SwitchArcade Round-Up: Nintendo Direct Parter Showcase, Plus Today’s New Releases and the Latest Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for February 21st, 2024. In today’s article, we are enjoying the weird time zone shenanigans yet again. There’s a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase today, but from your perspective I suppose it has already happened. I’m sure there was some good stuff in there! Even without knowing what surprises we have in store, there are some new releases on the schedule to take care of. After that, we have the usual lists of new and expiring sales. Let’s roll into it and see what’s what!

News

Check Out The Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase

As I write this, the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase is five hours in the future. As you read this, it will certainly have already gone up. While I’ve heard the rumors, I have no genuine idea what will be in this 25-minute presentation. All I can do is recommend you give it a watch, and we’ll catch up on the news tomorrow.

New Releases

Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story ($24.99)

The yordles from League of Legends get their own crafting RPG in this game from the developer of Graveyard Keeper. It has a charming look to it, and on paper its mechanics seem sound. From what I’ve heard from our pal Mikhail, who is going to review the game for us, the performance is a little bit rough. Well, I suppose we’ll see once he’s finished putting it through its paces.

Tenderfoot Tactics ($14.99)

This tactical turn-based RPG launched on Steam a few years back, and it seems to have gone over fairly well there with fans of the genre. It has a unique sense of style, gives you a large open world to explore, and avoids using random elements in its battles. Just be aware that some players find the game to be a little too opaque in a variety of ways, and it’s one of those RPGs where everything levels up with you. Not personally a huge fan of that myself, but sometimes it’s fine. I’ll have to give this a try myself to see how well I take to it.

Froggie – A Retro Platformer ($4.99)

There are a few different games vying for your fiver today, and this is the generic precision platformer in the lot. It offers one hundred levels and doesn’t seem like it’s doing anything particularly novel, but at this price I suppose it doesn’t have to. Well, it has a cute frog. That’s not nothing.

Geometry Survivor ($4.99)

Take the aesthetics of the classic Geometry Wars and marry them to a no-frills Vampire Survivors gameplay structure, and this is what you get. Another five-dollar game, another five-dollar experience. I wouldn’t pick it over Vampire Survivors at the same price, but it might be decent if you want to mix things up.

A Time Traveller’s Guide To Past Delicacies ($4.99)

A bizarre tale about a sock puppet who travels in time to enjoy the recipes of the past. This is a narrative-driven experience with some light exploration and very simple cooking mechanics. So yes, if those other five-dollar games today look too orthodox, you can get your weird on with this one.

The Bin Bunch

Metro Simulator 2 ($14.99)

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Some good puzzle games on sale from Draknek (and friends), a new low price on EA Sports FC 24 to go with its Nintendo Switch Online Game Trials campaign, and a few other bits and bobs. The list for the outbox is fairly long but nothing in it is really jumping out at me all that much. Some good games, to be sure. Just nothing that makes me scream at the top of my lungs as I jump off the top turnbuckle. Check those lists!
