In May of last year we told you about the very cool looking upcoming virtual pet-style game called Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago from developer 14 Hours Productions, and now it finally has a release date. In a nutshell, Yolk Heroes is a virtual pet game inspired by the old Tomagatchis that many of us carried around in our pockets back in the day. Hatch a little creature, and then ensure it stays alive by feeding it, bathing it, and keeping it entertained. The only problem with those old virtual pets is what exactly did those pets ever even do? They just kind of existed, unless you didn’t feed them for long enough, in which case they ceased to exist. Yolk Heroes wants to take the concept of raising a virtual pet but having it actually DO something, in this case go on an epic RPG-style adventure. Here’s a new trailer giving you an idea of what Yolk Heroes is all about, as well as revealing that release date.
I have to say that I’m super in love with this concept. I’ve always enjoyed the idea of virtual pets, but in practice I’ve never really had all that much fun with them. I’ve always wanted something more. Yolk Heroes seems like it can provide that “more" I’m looking for, although at the expense of being absolutely devastated after raising an elf child from birth to adulthood only to see them die in battle. That’s life as a parent, I guess! Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago will be launching on iOS and Android on March 19th, and on PC on March 5th. In the meantime feel free to Wishlist the game on Steam where a free demo is currently available as well.
