HoYoverse recently detailed the major upcoming Genshin Impact (Free) 4.0 Fontaine update titled “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason" in a livestream. The update goes live on August 15th if you’re on the Americas server or August 16th in the Europe one for iOS, Android, PS5, PS4, and PC platforms. This update brings in Fontaine, the nation of justice to the game featuring underwater diving, the main story continuing, three new playable characters (Lyney, Lynette and Freminet), and a lot more. As with prior updates, the Genshin Impact 4.0 Fontaine udpate preload has gone live on mobile and PC platforms. Watch the Genshin Impact 4.0 update Lyney character trailer below:
If you’re wondering how to preload the Genshin Impact 4.0 update, there are two ways to do it on mobile. The first is from the title screen where you will see the ‘Pre-install resource package" option. Tapping this will download the data. The second option is tapping the Paimon menu in-game and then selecting the ‘Other’ menu. This gives you the same pre-install option. Tapping this will start the download. When the update goes live on August 15th in the night (Americas) or August 16th early morning (Europe), you will just need to update the client from the App Store. As usual, there is no preloading on PS5 for Genshin Impact. The Fontaine update download size is about 7.95GB on iPad. If you missed the update trailer, watch it below:
The focus of this update is Fontaine which is the fifth major nation of Teyvat, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this update ends up being this week when I get back to the game after a bit of a break. If you’ve not gotten it yet, you can download Genshin Impact for free on the App Store for iOS here and on Google Play for Android here. The PC version is available on the official website here and the Epic Games Store. If you play on iOS, with iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5 and later, you can use PS5 and Xbox Series X|S controllers to play Genshin Impact. We featured Genshin Impact as our Game of the Week when it released and awarded it our 2020 Game of the Year. I also featured it as one of the best iOS games to play with a controller. What do you think of Genshin Impact 4.0 so far and have you been playing it lately?
