SwitchArcade Round-Up: The Settlers: New Allies Plus Todays Other New Releases and Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for July 5th, 2023. Those who read the article yesterday know that I had an appointment at the fancy hospital today, a situation that always puts my ability to turn in the daily article into doubt. Luckily, today is just about the slowest possible day one could imagine. So little news the other guys are searching for interesting tweets, only a few new releases, and a rather small list of new sales. But hey, let’s make the best of it!

New Releases

The Settlers: New Allies ($59.99)

The latest installment in the well-loved The Settlers series arrives on Switch, trailing the PC version by a few months. Its reception over there wasn’t very sunny from critics and players were even less thrilled with it. The main complaint seems to be that it’s lacking the depth of its predecessors, which doesn’t strike me as something that could be fixed with a few updates. Still, the Switch isn’t exactly swimming in games like this one, so you might want to give it a shot anyway.

EchoBlade ($9.99)

This seems neat. It’s a first-person dungeon exploration game where you can only see via the visualization created by the echoes of sounds. So you have to make noise to see the foes that stalk you, an interesting mechanic that might make this worth a punt if you’re looking for something different. The combat is real-time, and you can make use of an assortment of melee and ranged weapons. There are also some puzzles to solve and plenty of traps to watch out for.

Fastest on the Buzzer ($9.99)

Aw heck, it’s Sabec. This is a simple quiz/trivia game for up to two players via local multiplayer. The art is ghastly, but other than that it’s the usual business for this type of game. Only allowing two players max when there are four contestants in the game seems like an odd choice, but it’s not my game.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Some nice indie games in the inbox today, and I will once again plug the Parasite Pack. It’s a pair of really fun indie NES games. Formula Retro Racing might be worth a kick at two bucks, too. Over in the outbox, ININ’s latest sale is wrapping up. There are some wild deals in there, so make sure you check and see you’ve gotten everything you wanted.

That’s all for today, friends. We’ll be back tomorrow with the big list of Thursday releases. Looks like a good twenty games at least, so… that should be fun. We’ll also have some sales to look at, and that might be it. Oh, and the results of the fancy hospital were that I’m okay for now. So don’t worry, I’ll be sticking around a bit. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
