Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. As November breaths its last, the holiday season is right around the corner. That means we should start seeing more Christmas updates soon. For now, it’s another odd mix, but a good one. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Subway Surfers, Free It’s wild how well this game has maintained its popularity over so many years. Frequent updates will help with that, I suppose. This time the kids are headed back to Cairo, and there’s a new fan character named Super Runner Fernando to unlock, along with the super-fast Zuper Zapper board. Hasina’s Championship Outfit gives her a new look to sport, and the Marathon Challenge takes you back to Berlin for some endurance runs.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Free The latest update to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp adds a couple of small new features along with increasing the cap for animal friendship levels and maximum inventory slots. There are some new export destinations available at Gulliver’s Ship, and there are some new options for changing the animal guests at your campsite or cabin in case you’re tired of seeing the same old faces but can’t be bothered to manually change them all the time.
MARVEL Puzzle Quest: Hero RPG, Free There are a few things going on in the latest version of Marvel Puzzle Quest. Riri Williams (Ironheart 3.0) has been added to the game, an Ultron boss battle is ongoing, and Spider-Man (Classic) takes a spin in the PVP Arena. Some new Puzzle Ops challenges are available, too. I’m sure there are a bunch of other little tweaks and fixes because there always are, but I’ll leave those to you to hunt down if you’re particularly interested in them.
NBA 2K23 Arcade Edition, This update expands the roster of legends in the Greatest Mode. There are ten new all-time great players to choose from, bringing the total to thirty. The new batch includes Kobe Bryant, Patrick Ewing, Dwyane Wade, Wilt Chamberlain, and more. It’s always interesting to see legends come back in these sports games, especially since they tend to be drawn from so many different eras of the sport. These kinds of face-offs could never happen in real life, after all.
Jetpack Joyride 2, Jetpack Joyride 2 is doing its best to live up to the legacy of its popular predecessor, but it’s going to take a whole bunch of updates for that to happen. Here’s another step on that road, I suppose. There’s a new story level called Neontropolis where you’ll face off with Pim Pam Pom. You can get a new skin named Ayylmao who is an alien devoted to peace and ancient memes, and a new power-up in the form of the Pop N Weapon that does pretty much what the name indicates. Throw in some bug fixes and performance enhancements, and that’s the lot.
SP!NG, Spexclamationpointing has more new levels to play. The eleventh chapter of The Lost Levels is now available, though the update notes call it “Chappter 11". Is it a typo, or some kind of secret? Does the second ‘p’ stand for ‘punctuation marks in titles are a stylistic choice and not meant to be read aloud as part of the title, Shaun’? I’m going to assume so, in which case my reply is: weird way to give me a heads-up, friends. But message received loud and clear. Loud. And. Clear.
Warped Kart Racers, When you get an update to a game like Warped Kart Racers, there are a few things you’d probably like to see. Perhaps a new track. There’s one here, Al Harrington’s, which takes you through the home of the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubeman. Maybe you want a new character? Play the Warped Series and you’ll unlock Chris Griffin. You like multiplayer? Play a new episode of multiplayer and you’ll get some cool rewards. Yes, it’s a nice, solid update for this oddball kart racer.
Gear.Club Stradale, Now to a more straight-buttoned racer update. In Gear.Club Stradale‘s latest version, you can now enjoy a new Test Drive feature at the Car Dealer. Take those cars for a little spin before you commit to buying, just like in real life! Speaking of cars, there’s a new one in this update. No, I don’t know which one. It can be kind of a meta-game for you to figure it out on your own. There have also been some adjustments made to the introduction and overall flow of track unlocks to try to make the game a little easier to get into. If you’re already into it, then you don’t have to worry too much about all of that.
Homescapes, Free Our back end isn’t so hot at updating icons anymore for the articles, but the current icon for Homescapes always amuses me. Austin, a key-ish thing, and a toilet. This game is about a middle-aged man who needs to take a dump real bad, clearly. Anyway, this our Obligatory Free-to-Play Matching Puzzle Update for the week. It has some new stories to play, including a winter adventure to the North Pole, a scheme involving building a home-made ski resort, and a love confession via the medium of jazz music. New puzzle elements include the Tape Measure and Pool Balls, both of which will likely cause a bunch of problems for you as you solve the new levels.
Rush Rally 3, $4.99 Let’s finish things up with a look at the latest update to hit Brownmonster’s excellent racer Rush Rally 3. This is a big one, as it adds in cross-platform multiplayer. Yes, you can now race against people on other platforms, which should make it easier to find people to play with. You can now adjust the HUD position between a few different settings, the graphics have been improved, and there’s proper support for super-wide displays. I love this game and this is a cool update, so it gets the coveted UMMSotW award for this week.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
