Season 5 of ‘Rocket League Sideswipe’ Kicks Off Tomorrow with a Futuristic Theme and New Battle Pass

Psyonix has been keeping true to their “new season every two-to-three-ish months give or take a few weeks here and there" cadence with Rocket League Sideswipe, and that’s continuing with its brand new fifth season that is all set to kick off tomorrow. Going in an almost opposite direction of the Medieval theme in Season 4, Season 5 of Rocket League Sideswipe takes on a futuristic theme and features some futuristic new items, like the Chikara G1 Car and Holo Data Goal Explosion. Additionally, the Volleyball mode is making its return to Ranked and will replace the current Hoops mode, which no doubt will make its own return down the line sometime. Check out the Season 5 teaser trailer below.

If you’ve been living in a cave for the past nine months and are wondering what the heck a Rocket League Sideswipe is, it’s the built-for-mobile iteration of the phenomenally popular and successful cars-playing-soccer game Rocket League that has been out on consoles and PC for a number of years now. It distills all the wild action from its older counterpart into a 2D affair with less players and quicker matches, which suits mobile perfectly but still retains the essence of the original game. It was our Game of the Week upon release last December, and despite launching so late in the year, it won us over as our pick for iPhone Game of the Year for 2021. Basically it’s stupid amounts of fun and totally free so there’s no good reason not to be at least trying out Rocket League Sideswipe for yourself, and look for Season 5 to go live inside the game tomorrow.
