Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘PUBG Mobile’, ‘Honkai Impact 3rd’, ‘Jetpack Joyride 2’, ‘Merge Mansion’, and More

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. This last week has felt like a year for me, but I’m back in the saddle now and ready to settle back into my routine. That means I have found a bunch of updates for you to enjoy with your toast or what-have-you. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

Jetpack Joyride 2, Interestingly, in the formatting template I use for this article every week, this first spot is a Jetpack Joyride update from a couple of years ago. Now its sequel gets to take its place. How poetic. This latest version adds in an Endless Mode (I’m surprised it launched without one), some new Story levels, a new Purification Badge to grab, and some of those tasty bug fixes and performance improvements we all crave. Not a bad start to a game I’m sure we’ll see updates for years for.

TRANSFORMERS: Tactical Arena, The Apple Arcade Transformers game gets a fresh new update with two new arenas: Prehistoric Earth and Velocitron. And you know what those arenas mean, don’t you? Maximals… maximize! Optimal Optimus, Airazor, Cheetor, Chasers, and Chaser Drones cards are now available to add to your collection. There are some new Arena Tiers to make room for the new arenas, and the maximum player level has been increased to level nine. I imagine the Predacons will be along before too long if they haven’t already arrived outside of my notice.

Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure, Temple Run‘s puzzle game spin-off keeps the content coming with its latest update. There are three new Mirror Stories to play that will take Scarlett on new adventures, plus sixty new puzzles and some new tournaments to dig into. I still find this game amusing from a conceptual standpoint. Anyway, we’ll check in on the runner game just after this, so don’t worry if this isn’t your particular cup of tea.

Temple Run 2, Free See, nothing to worry about. Here it is, the second game in the Temple Run series and possibly the last word on the behind-the-back running variation of it. No need for another one if the developers keep adding to this one, after all. And add they have, friends. Add. They. Have. The Autumn update for the game adds in some season-appropriate colors and decorations to the run, plus Freya the Reinheimen Ranger and a whole bunch of new hats. One of them is called the World Tour Hat, presumably worn by the Temple Runners as they imagine ever getting out of this place. Seriously, this darned Temple goes on forever!

Solitaire Stories, More Solitaire Stories for those who dig them, and even those who don’t. In The Pod 2, the rogue AI 3XNR.9 tries to help a rather naive person named Jack achieve enlightenment. There are also two new events to enjoy, with the season-appropriate Autumn Drive and a return trip to the boss gauntlet of the Solitaire Underground on tap. Finally, the Spider mode has been added to Stories, giving you another way to play the Stories if you feel like revisiting them.

Honkai Impact 3rd, Free Let’s check in on Genshin Impact‘s cousin for a minute and see how things are going in its latest version. Well, there’s a new S-rank battlesuit in form of Herrscher of Human: Ego, so that’s something. There’s also a couple of new events: Summer Survival Rhapsody Side 13, which covers the second half of this year’s summer adventure, and Feast Invitation, which sees you completing specific missions to earn a new Bridge Theme. Finally, Project Stigma: EX Chapter is coming for those who crave a little more story. Not bad.

Disney Magic Kingdoms, Free You know, I really liked Turning Red. I thought it was cute. You don’t get a lot of Kaiju movies set in Toronto. Anyway, Disney Magic Kingdoms is doing a Turning Red event. Mei has gone missing and it’s up to her friends Abby, Miriam, Priya, and Ming Lee to find her. I wonder if she went all… you know, grrr? Seems like a high chance. Imagine if you did a Turning Red event and you didn’t bring out the giant panda? The people would revolt, surely.

MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPG, Free Okay, fine. I’ll give the coveted UMMSotW to a Marvel game this time. What can I say? They brought the Spider-Mans. This update brings in Red Hulk’s Horseman of the Apocalypse War Scourge Event, the first run of Rogue’s Famine Saga, and an original character named Spider-Weaver. Do not copy. There’s too much in here to cover, but you can get character shards for Apocalypse’s third Horseman, Red Hulk, a special Famine costume for Horseman Rogue, plus new characters Spider-Weaver, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099, and Mister Negative. There are also new costumes for Elsa Bloodstone and Wolverine. Anyway, fire up the game and check it out if you want the full skinny.

Merge Mansion, Free And here’s the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update for this week. Mysterious grandmother, right? Well, even Maddie can get tired of the nonsense sometimes, so in this update she’s taking a rest in the Spa Getaway event. Or… is she? Oh, that Grandma. There’s also a new area to discover in the form of the Romantic Spot. Surely Grandma can’t be skulking around there. Right? Gee, this game makes me paranoid.

PUBG MOBILE, Free PUBG Mobile is as popular as ever, it seems. This, despite that fact that it features no pubs and remarkably few Gs. Well, you can’t predict what will and won’t be a hit these days. But when I make a game about pubs that have a strong letter G motif, we’ll see who is the fancypants. Right, sorry, new update. There’s a new map in the form of the resort island Nusa, some new skills, pilotable hot air balloons, some improvements to the Erangel map, and naturally the start of a new season.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
