Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Among Us’, ‘Black Desert Mobile’, ‘Zookeeper World’, ‘Final Fantasy IX’, and More

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Lots of great updates for Apple Arcade games in the last week, along with some free-to-play games and one game that I’ve been waiting a long time to see updated. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

FINAL FANTASY â…¨, $20.99 Final Fantasy IX has been broken on iOS for a while now, and that made me a sad fellow. I was actually happy when Square Enix pulled it from sale, because while I could imagine a world where they would ignore a broken game, I can’t imagine one where they actually stop selling a mainline Final Fantasy port. And hey, here we are. The game is all fixed up and will now play on modern iOS devices. So go refresh yourself on the lyrics of Melodies of Life and get ready to pal up with Vivi and Steiner again, because angst is back on the menu!

Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat, The Taiko no Tatsujin fun is expanding on Apple Arcade with this latest update. There are some new Touch Drum control settings you can pick from, for starters. But hey, you’re not here for new control layouts, are you? You want to know the new songs! There are a whopping ten new tunes to tap to in this update, including Let It Go from Frozen, Gurenge from Demon Slayer, The Nutcracker March, and Jingle Bells No.765. That brings the total song list up to more than sixty, which is a rather impressive number. Reckon I’ll give this the coveted UMMSotW award this time around.

Zookeeper World, I’ve been playing the heck out of Zookeeper World, and I can’t for the life of me explain why. It’s a nice time-waster, I guess? Well, the problem I keep running into is that I run out of content. This latest update serves up another twenty-five levels to feed my need, along with a new animal for the zoo, some new decorations, a new player level, and a cool flying saucer you can ride around. Watch out for the new zombie animals in the puzzle levels. They’re a bit troublesome.

MasterChef: Let's Cook!, Sometimes I read MasterChef‘s title as Master Chief, and that conjures up some funny images. Sadly, Master Chief hasn’t had his own iOS game for quite a long time now. But MasterChef? That has a game, and it got a keen update for you all to enjoy. It seeds in the upcoming Thanksgiving event, which kicks off on Monday the 22nd. Do your best to prepare a tasty Turkey Glazed Ham and unlock a sweet Turkey apron. But wait, there’s more! A second Thanksgiving event starting on November 29th, giving you the chance to unlock the Roasted Turkey hat by showing your mastery of the Roasted Turkey recipe. Throw in some UI improvements and bug fixes, and that’s the lot.

Asphalt 8: Airborne+, I’m intrigued to see how these Apple Arcade versions of classic games fare in terms of updates, especially when the original is still active on the App Store. Asphalt 8 Airborne+ got a big-pants one this time, adding in a proper multiplayer mode where you can challenge other racers and win some nice rewards. But hey, you’re not here for multiplayer, are you? Well, you might be. High chance. Anyway, I wanted to use that to segue into the new cars that have been added, but that’s all ruined now. There are lots of new cars. Chevy Camaro GS. McLaren P1 GTR. Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X. Many others. There are also thirteen new music tracks, just as a little cherry on top. Pick up some new cars, and see if you can come out at the head of the pack.

Toy Blast, Free Since you have to pay a subscription fee for Apple Arcade, Zookeeper World technically isn’t free. That means I am still obligated to include the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game for this week, and surprise – it’s Toy Blast. There are fifty new levels here with some story about getting your cars ready for winter or some such. I mean, that’s not a bad idea for the real world if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. Too late in parts of Canada, mind you. But I suppose if you live in those parts, you don’t need me to tell you that.

Among Us!, Free This new update is anything but sus, friends. I probably used that last time, but I write about almost a hundred games a week. There’s bound to be some overlapping jokes. You get four new Roles to play in this new version, along with some new customization options, cool unlocks, achievements, and more. Those new roles really add a whole new dimension to the game, so be sure to pop in and give them a try. See if you can get away with murder, then use your winnings to get a new hat. Now that’s what I call Video Games.

ANOTHER EDEN, Free It’s been a while since we last looked in on Another Eden, but I can assure it has mostly been up to its usual tricks. This latest version sees an encounter with Hardy (Another Style) added, along with something called Manifestation: Weapon Discovery. Paid Fateful Encounters Beautiful Caller and Quintet of Swords & Wings are available, and some new weapons have been added for Dunarith (Soul Bringer) and Rosetta (Judgement). And that’s pretty much the extent of the exciting bits. Probably a few bug fixes and text adjustments along the margins, too.

The Seven Deadly Sins, Free The latest version of The Seven Deadly Sins brings back the popular collaboration with King of Fighters ’98 for another go around. Iori Yagami and Terry Bogard are here for a limited time, and costumes are available for both the new characters and those returning from the previous crossover event. If you missed the previous event and want to get in on the King of Fighters fun, this is your chance. Heck, even if you didn’t miss it you may want to pop in and see what’s new.

Black Desert Mobile, Free We’ll finish up this week’s article with a look at the latest update for Black Desert Mobile, which remains as popular as it is gorgeous. This new version brings in Path of Glory Season 6, with a whole new class on offer in the form of the Sage. World Boss Khan has been renewed, and a number of quality of life improvements have been made. Some other bug fixes and performance tweaks have been implemented, as well.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
