‘Get Together’ is a Clever Cooperative Puzzler Coming to Mobile and PC this Week

A big part of my lifelong love of video games is the ability to tune out the entire rest of the world and partake in some good old-fashioned solo escapism. But as great as games can be on an individual level, they’re also really fantastic ways to spend time with others. Whether elbow to elbow in an arcade, on opposite sides of the living room couch, or over the magic of the internet waves, video games have always had a large social component. Lots of times that is in a competitive manner, but there’s also plenty of great cooperative gaming experiences to be shared with others.

All of this is to say that a clever new cooperative puzzle adventure called Get Together from Studio Sterneck is heading to mobile and PC later this week. What’s interesting about this one in particular is that you’ll need to actually communicate with a partner in order to play through it. The premise is that the main character gets split into two different beings, separated into their own worlds that are slightly different from one another. You play through one version of the world while your partner plays through the other, and you’ll need to literally talk with one another in order to solve the various puzzles you come across in both versions of the world.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this sort of concept or anything, as Studio Sterneck themselves cite games like We Were Here and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes as inspirations, and it also brings to mind the very cool Tick Tock: A Tale for Two that launched on multiple platforms including mobile a few years back. But, it’s not a version of cooperative game that you see all too often, so more people in the pool is always welcome as far as I’m concerned. And, similar to Tick Tock and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, the game is multi-platform and you can play with someone else with any combination of iOS, Android, or PC devices, which is always nice.

So if you too like these sorts of cooperative experiences, you can look forward to Get Together launching this Thursday, October 14th on the platforms I’ve already mentioned. You can Wishlist the PC version on Steam or you can pre-order the iOS version on the App Store where it’s showing a price of $3.99. Android people? Well, we’ll just see you Thursday.
