Most long-running anime series will have at least a few filler episodes. The internet abounds with viewing guides to cut out filler entirely and focus only on the meat of the story. That’s a shame, because there’s plenty of great filler episodes out there to enjoy. A case in point is Naruto. This guest post from Naruto Filler List showcases some of the best filler episodes from Naruto that are actually worth your time.

1. Kidnapped! Naruto’s Hot Spring Adventure!
(Episode 97)

This episode is about Jiraya, Tsunade, Shizune and Naruto – that’s the main reason to watch this funny episode. While going back to the village, Tsunade offers everyone take a break at a hot spring town. Unfortunately, Jiraya rejects the plan but after Tsunade bluffs him that there will be pretty women out there, Jiraya agrees.

The scenes of this episode are humorous and for people who are big fans of Tsunade and Shizune. You’ll get some incredible scenes among them as Shizune puts everything on the line to ensure Tsunade.

2. Deep Cover?! A Super S-Ranked Mission!
(Episode 136)

If a filler episode involves Jiraya, chances are, it’ll be a good one. This episode Jiraya tries to distract Naruto and Sakura from Sasuke’s absence while tells them they are going on a mission that in part involves finding Sasuke.

You’ll enjoy this episode as it involves Naruto and Jiraiya, it’s actually fun and has a lot of great moments between all three characters. The interesting part of this episode is that Jiraiya gets drunk with some of his old friends and pursued by gangsters in a bar and later Naruto and Sakura encounter a mysterious ninja.

3. Bikōchū Search Mission
(Episode 148)

Here is a good episode to watch if you like Team 8. As you know how Naruto and Sakura desperately wanted to find Sasuke, that’s the reason Team 8 comes with a solution.

They requested Tsunade to find the legendary bikōchū beetle that could track any target as long as it had the target’s scent. So they go on a hunt to find that rare beetle but things became more complicated when it was discovered by another gang. This whole story took 148 to 151 episodes to complete it.

4. The Appearance of Strange Visitors
(Episode 161)

In this episode, Guy and Lee have left the village on a mission meanwhile on the hunt for fame, two imposters named Mondai and Potcha disguise themselves as Might Guy and Rock Lee in order to steal Konoha’s secrets. Of course, Naruto fell for it and began following them all day and Tsunade wants to teach the two a lesson.

From fighting off parasitic bloodsuckers to thinking about Tsunade’s monster slug, the phony ninjas are pushed to their absolute limit while Naruto happily handles each every task as training,  Seeing these two irregular characters being gotten through a lot of hardship every step of the way is amusing enough to make seeing this one justified, despite all the trouble.

After the impostors finally gave up on their mission and left the village after that Naruto found the real Guy and Lee to thank them for the assistance in training. And Guy and Lee had no idea what he was talking about.

5. Please, Mr. Postman
(Episode 177)

Don’t you get excited to watch this episode for any cost? When Naruto was heading back to the village from his recent mission, he meets a unique Courier Ninja whose mission duties simply to deliver mail through the most difficult and dangerous territory. That’s where Naruto discovers Jiraiya fooling around with some girls and then started calm Naruto that why he hasn’t started Naruto’s training yet.

This filler has a fast-paced chase scene like a group of postmen versus Naruto’s Harem Jutsu, taking place on land and on the water, and most importantly a kind-hearted bonding between master and student.

This episode scenes gave fans a sample of what those two years Naruto and Jiraiya spent training probably looked like.

6. Hot-Blooded Confrontation: Student Vs. Sensei
(Episode 196)

This episode shows bonding between Guy and Lee. This episode follows the story of Team Guy – when Guy is trapped inside wooden dummies that control by a ninja while Lee fights off the dummies outside. What follows is a battle among master and student as Lee and Guy push themselves as far as possible to shatter the dummies that mimic the other’s movements.

With that level of honour, the two see through the technique and simultaneously use the Hidden Lotus to destroy their own dummies without harming each other. After that, it becomes clear why Lee aspires to be so much like Guy.
